Badagry monarch faults claim of self supporting smuggling
The Aholu of Kweme kingdom in Badagry, Oba Sejiro Olamilekan James on Tuesday denied allegation of supporting smuggling activities in Seme and Badagry areas of Lagos.
The monarch disclosed this during a press briefing organised by the palace in Kweme kingdom, Badagry.
James said he read in Facebook that his kingdom was among the traditional rulers in Badagry that supported the commencement of smuggling contrabands to Lagos.
“I have no hand in illegality, I have told youths in my community to do their businesses according to the law of export and import.
“Anyone cut involving himself or herself in smuggling should be dealt with according to the law of the law.
“For anyone to write that traditional rulers in Badagry are in support of illegality is insulting and degrading to our kingdoms.
“We may not be flamboyant and rich like other traditional rulers in other division of Lagos, that doesn’t mean we should involve in smuggling activities,” he said.
The monarch urged the federal government to provide social amenities and employment opportunities to good people of border communities in Badagry.
“There is no electricity in whole Badagry-West Local Council Development Area, no company, no job for teeming youths, this has resulted to many people being wretched.
“We need both federal and state governments presence in our communities to survive here,” he said.
